Opposite: "Resurrection"

~ Part II: SAINTS and MYSTICAL SUBJECTS ~

Ressurection The second part of his collection "From Heroes to Saints" shows that Saints, like Heroes, are going to exist in not only in the famous but in everyday man.  Once again, the body gestures and facial expressions that Dr. Baret has been able to bring out in his subjects demonstrate the same confidence and strong faith as that of the Heroes in Part I of the collection.  In this second part, the artist also studies other fleeting emotions, such as love, religious conviction and compassion.

Although the artist keeps in focus his main point that heroes and saints are made from the same fabric of unshakable faith as demonstrated by the subjugation of their self interests to the common good, Dr. Baret has also explored in this Part II of the study deep metaphysical subjects.   One illustration this can be found in of one of his most amazing satues, "Mystical Conversion of the Desert Prophet", where he was able to capture in the bronze medium all the powerful magic of the Sprit entering the body of the Prophet.

His work entitled "Resurrection" (shown here) has brought him international recognition when he won the "The First Best Maquette " prize during the juried "Third Internaional Rodin Exhibition".
